Dawn of the Magical Mushrooms

Welcome to my new shop on the lovely new British Craft House platform 🙂

When I first started my business back in 2010 I was a card maker only. I was supplying cards to 8 different outlets around the Island but soon got itchy fingers to try other things.

I’d always loved painting but had no training and didn’t think it was good enough to sell. I
stumbled across someone teaching a technique called one stroke painting and suddenly it all fell into place. I fell in love with the style and so did all my customers. I soon found the card making had taken a back seat and painting flowers on home decor was now my main business. My stall was flourishing and online sales were doing well.

I joined Facebook very late in the game only about 3 or 4 years ago, and one of the things I
found I loved doing were themed online markets. Late in 2017 I was thinking about my next theme, Moonlight, Magic and Madness.  Right up my street having a huge love of fantasy of every type but this hadn’t really filtered through to my makes…yet! I was thinking about doing a clock, something that had become a bit of a speciality,
and looking around my room and saw some of my mushroom ornaments.

I don’t really know where it came from but the Magical Mushrooms were born with that very
first clock. The pink and blue background with the matching shrooms around the edge like a fairy ring and little doors even bunting and lamps.

The clock went nuts on my Facebook page and anywhere showed it so I made a few more things
and the event was a sell out. Since then mushrooms have taken over my life! Now available in many different colours, shapes and sizes and on all sorts of things they are my best selling range and something I love doing.

My confidence has grown in doing my own artwork and more fantasy ranges like my unicorns have also been added now. I will always love doing florals but fantasy art is where my heart lies.

  1. Absolutely gorgeous!! What an amazing collection. Lovely to hear how other Crafters got started, I too started off with cards, I think it must be the entry point for most 🙂 Look forward to reading more in the future, Di x
